Okezie Ikpeazu, the Governor of Abia State, on Saturday, lauded the Independent National Electoral Commission ( INEC) for the early commencement of voting in the Governorship and House of Assembly elections across the State.

He stated this after casting his vote alongside his wife, Nkechi at Ward 7, Unit 032, Umuebere, Umuobiakwa, Obingwa local government area of the state

Ikpeazu noted that as early as 8-9 am, INEC Staff had started setting up in preparation for the day’s voting in over 90 percent of locations in the state.

“Today’s outing is far better than the February 25th Presidential and National Assembly elections”, Ikpeazu said.

He, however, regretted that the late arrival of voting materials at the just concluded presidential polls created chaotic scenes and expressed hope that the collation of results of today’s elections will commence on time.

The Abia Chief Executive also expressed joy with the calmness, peace and security that characterized the exercise in his area and hoped it will continue across the state.

According to Ikpeazu, his greatest achievement in Abia State is peace, security and stability and implored Abians to vote for sustained peace and development in the state.
