Voter apathy mars Kaduna’s governorship, House of Assembly elections

1 week ago 12

The governorship and state House of Assembly election in Kaduna is marred by an apparent voter apathy as several polling units recorded only a handful of voters.

Some polling units in Kaduna North LGA, in Kakuri Ward of Kaduna South LGA, and Hausa Ward of Chikun LGA, were deserted as voters deliberately stayed away from the electoral exercise.

Some voters who spoke to DAILY POST correspondent avowed that they see no reason to exercise their franchise knowing that their votes will hardly count.

Mrs Justin Mustsoha who said her voting centre was No.3 Kakuri Ward affirmed: “I was discouraged during the presidential election because of the electoral fraud that took place.”

Another respondent, Mrs. Mary Josphine Ulime also echoed the pessimism that she is convinced her vote will not count.

Though voting continues at the time of filing this report, many polling units are empty of voters.
